Well, don't hold your breath on the PowerPC 620. It seems that due to
it's size and complexity, it has been in beta forever, and may never see
the light of day. IBM has been hedging, but both PowerPC News and PCWeek
anticipate them dropping the 620 entirely and going to enhanced 603s. It
still looks like a great chip for the price, though. Check out the BeBox
(http://www.be.com) for a GREAT application of it. Oh, and the major
reason stated to drop the chip is it wouldn't be siginificantly cheaper
than a PentiumPro (what, do I have the amateur version ?!?) at the same
performance, and it has to be cheaper in order to be a viable
alternative in the market today.
